Why Scholarships: 

• Since its inception, Glendale West Rotary has focused on supporting youth program through Rotary International Programs such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE). 

• In addition, Glendale West Rotary has created projects  in support of youth, generally linked to education, in the Glendale community.  

• We do annual dictionary distributions to all third graders in the Glendale Elementary Schools and have done so for many years. 

• The development of childhood literacy skills is an area of focus near and dear to Glendale West Rotary.

• We have supported and partnered in numerous ways with Landmark Elementary Schools in downtown Glendale, including donating books and bookshelves, engaging students in read to me activities, facility painting projects, tree planting and more. 

• Scholarships for high school seniors is very consistent with other strategic initiatives in support of youth and the pursuit of post-secondary education, and has been explored and emphasized  through our periodic club planning processes.

• It would probably not surprise you that many members, past and present, have been or are teachers, school staff, principals and even a superintendent who fully support education in as many ways as possible!
