* OurProgram was a fireside chat titled "Connecting the Rotary Dots," presented by President Dale. We exchanged lots of ideas.
* The Club Board met after the regular club meeting. We discussed delinquent dues (you know who you are), club goals, and upcoming district events. There were no items to be voted on.
* As always, service projects and events organized by other district 5495 clubs are listed here and in the calendar section of the website. Please let Rebecca know if you have something to add.
Foundation "Minute"
From the Prez
I can’t believe it’s been a month since the start of the Rotary year. We are already
busy with lots of plans. Tom and I have been collaborating about our upcoming
programs and we have some wonderful presentations to coming up. Next month,
Fary Moini and Steve Brown are going to talk to us about their ongoing work in
Afghanistan to provide education for girls (as well as some boys). We are inviting
all district clubs to tune in if they are interested. We will learn about what it will
take to support a teacher for a month and what kind of basic and innovative IT
classes are being provided. Our district will be able to help support this program if
we have multiple clubs wanting to participate. The more information we can
provide to Rotarians, the more we can do. We are also planning an “in person”
meeting opportunity for our club. I am very excited about that opportunity! We
also hope to be hearing more from Zuri very soon about this year’s RYLA and the
opportunities we will have to participate and assist students to share in this
wonderful opportunity.
In October, our district governor, Joe Sweeney, will be at our club and will talk to
us about his vision for our district this year. Very much looking forward to
welcoming.
Don’t forget to wear your Rotary pins when you are out and about. It’s always so
special when someone asks about it and we get to share information and invite
more people to join our organization. Please, also read your Rotarian magazines
when they arrive. You will learn so much about what is happening worldwide in
Rotary!
Next week you will be getting an email with our Rotarian of the Day list. That
person will lead our pledge, 4 way test and talk (3 minutes) about a “Rotary
moment”. We will start that at our next meeting.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Dale
